Steal Her Style: Rebel Wilson
Posted: May 22 2015
Known for her wit and humor, it should come as no surprise that Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson's style can best be described as fun. Her red carpet looks always have an element of whimsy with fun details, which we find to be aca-awesome. Here, our top three Rebel looks and how to replicate them.
Zany Stripe Dress
If one look totally captures Rebel's style, it's this striped number she wore to the G'Day USA Gala in Hollywood at the beginning of the year. It's essentially a black shift dress jazzed up with some bright, serpentine stripes that make this number anything but basic. The stripes serve two-fold, drawing attention up towards her face while showing off her personality. She paired if off with neutral metallic heels, letting the dress do all the talking.
Get the look: Keep a colorful pattern next to your face by draping a bold statement necklace over a versatile LBD, like the Seamed Sheath Dress.
Hidden Purple Cape
At the 2015 MTV Movie Awards, Rebel hit another style high note when she paired a black shift dress with an on-trend cape. At first, it seemed she had only added a little pop of color with purple heels, but she treated everyone to a real sartorial surprise when she revealed the cape's unexpected purple lining.
Get the look: Take a favorite black blazer or overcoat, like the Cocoon Coat, to your tailor and have a surprising lining installed. The fabric for lining is not expensive and this is an easy way to emulate Rebel's look.
What we love about this outfit is that for most women, the striped shirt would have been enough of a statement maker. But Rebel being, well, rebellious, she took it a step further with Kelly green skinny jeans. She completed the look with a pair of signature heels and an oversized blazer for a casual but pulled together look.
Get the look: Don't be shy to mix stripes with color! Throw on a blazer like the Peplum Jacket over bold pants like the Coated Leggings in Navy and pair it up with a striped tee.
