Spring Accessory Report
Posted: Mar 13 2015
Move over minimalistic handbags and dainty jewelry. Spring 2015 is cropping up with accessories that get funky. We’re talking big, bold, bright pieces inspired by the 70’s. The look is as decadent as the decade itself with oversized, disco earrings, over-the-top sunnies and dramatic fringe.
Here, our picks for the season and how to incorporate them into your wardrobe.
Huge, doorknocker earrings are THE jewelry piece to wear this season, as we saw on every red carpet this past awards season. Think shoulder-grazing, chandelier styles in crystal and rhinestones. An especially chic take on the look is to wear one oversized earring in one ear and a complimentary post version on the other side. But if that’s not quite your flavor, you can also opt for a more classic take on the look with oversized, ornate studs or an intricate jewel-encrusted ear cuff that lends an edgier look.
How to rock it: Stick to open and simple necklines to let your earrings take center stage. Pull hair back into a messy ponytail and wear your statement earrings with the Detachable Belt Maxi.
Embrace your wild side with bright sunglasses this spring. Whether you opt for colorful frames, tinted lenses or both. Some other trends to watch out for: oval and oversized frames, gradiated lenses and glittery frames.
How to rock it: For an everyday look, pair decadent sunglasses with an otherwise casual look. Slip on the Lightweight Parka with a bright, oversized pair of sunglasses.
Sticking to the look of the 70’s, fringe was one of the biggest trends of the season. Our favorite take on it was the swingy handbags because it’s a great way to hint at the trend without totally committing to it via an all-over fringe outfit.
How to rock it: This look pretty much goes with anything, but we especially like the look of wearing a fringe handbag with the Short Sleeve Sweatshirt for a fun weekend look.
