MYNT NEWS: THANKSGIVING DECOR
Posted: Nov 17 2014
Chances are that you already have your Thanksgiving outfit planned out (ahem, looking at you, PEPLUM TOP in FUDGE paired with Leggings). But your fancy dinner table dressing is a totally different story. Here at Mynt, we liken all areas of life to our wardrobe. So here is our guide to setting your dinner table with the same chic style your guests would expect from only you.
Pick a color scheme
Start by selecting a color theme. Some things may be predetermined, like the colors or pattern on your china, so use that as your base and choose three other complimentary shades as an accent. This mainly refers to your tablecloth or placemats and napkins. Maybe you’ll want your white china to blend into a white tablecloth and let the vibrant table accessories pop off the plainer palette. Or perhaps you prefer the richer look of a burgundy tablecloth with napkins and flowers.
Center of attention
While the turkey will be the main attraction for Thanksgiving dinner, don’t overlook centerpieces at the table. We suggest a series of smaller arrangements, which won’t get in the way of food. Some pretty options are unscented votive candles, branches, gourds, pumpkins, dried fruit, pine cones, acorns, leaves and of course flowers. Try and stay away from highly fragranced flowers or for a unique twist, wrap the flowers around your chandelier, keeping the scent away from the meal.
Just like you look to jewelry and other accessories to adorn your wardrobe, think of your napkins, place cards and chargers in the same vain. You can go for glitz with beaded napkin rings or get creative with the rustic look of using leaves or branches in your place settings.
To really make an impact, choose serving dishes and glassware in various heights to add range. If you’re going to do a dessert table, employ tall cake stands.
