MYNT NEWS: Fall 1 Trending Report
Posted: Sep 13 2014
Ladies, borrowing from the boys has never looked better. Oversized trousers, elongated blazers and relaxed fit shirts are the look of Fall 2014. With a nod to 90’s minimalism and an updated take on spring’s sporty chic trend, menswear as womenswear will have you rethinking what sexy looks like. Not sure how to dress the part? Don’t fret, our Fall 2014 collection has you covered with masculine pieces that give a whole new meaning to femininity.
Menswear for Curvy Girls
This time around the overall look is less about head to toe suiting and instead going for separates that flow together. And while oversized clothing may seem like a curvy girl’s worst nightmare, here’s how the look translates effortlessly into the plus size world.
To keep it sexy, it’s all about the fit. Instead of wearing actual men’s pieces, opt for menswear-inspired clothing that’s cut for women and still flaunts your curves. Men’s pieces won’t nip in at the waist or show off shapely legs like ladies’ clothing will.
Layer strategically. Pairing a boyfriend blazer with a slouchy tee and oversized trousers may seem intimidating but playing with proportions will flatter any shape. For a chic weekend look, think about slipping on a looser cropped tee under the baggy blazer. A fitted vest pulls together wide leg trousers for the office.
MYNT Goes Masculine
Our take on boy’s dressing translates to wearable, everyday pieces. Our tuxedo pants offers both a slouchy and fitted version. The Pleated Pant with Tuxedo Stripe is looser; slip it on with a fitted tee and sneakers for a cool dressed-down look. The Straight Leg Pant with Tuxedo Stripe is more fitted and formal; pair it with the Long Lean Blazer in Navy to achieve an elongated look.
Yesterday’s varsity jacket got a cool, more masculine makeover in the form of moto and bomber jackets. The Moto Jacket with Zipper Details offers that rugged men’s style; while keeping you looking feminine when left open and paired with our figure flattering dresses. Our favorite jacket is the Perforated Suede Bomber, which is super flattering due to its elasticized waist; wear it with pretty much anything, from jeans and leggings to our pegged pants.
While it may seem to contradict itself, skirts can also have a masculine appeal. The Perforated Pencil Skirt hits right at the knee and does not hug the body like a traditional pencil skirt. Heavier details, like a front zip and perforation that reminisces of mesh sports jersey helps add a masculine balance to this feminine silhouette.
