MODEL CITIZEN: Aglae Dreyer

Posted: Jun 10 2014

Welcome to Model Citizen, a new column where we interview Mynt models about their lives and careers! First up on our radar: Aglae Dreyer, a Belgium-born beauty who now calls NYC her home.

We came across Aglae when we were casting for our Pre-Fall 2014 photo shoot. Her energy, grace and natural style were apparent. So, we had to know more and interviewed her on-set at the shoot. Here’s what she has to say about being a plus-size model, her personal style and her favorite Mynt pieces.

 Where are you from?

Originally from Brussels, Belgium but moved to NYC one and a half years ago to pursue modeling. Now that I’m based here, I absolutely love it and get to travel a lot.

What’s the difference between NY style and European?

Here in NYC, style is free form and feels like we can wear anything. The look is very relaxed. And anything goes! You won’t get crazy stares for wearing something a little different.

How did you get into plus size modeling?

I was scouted in a bar in Brussels when I was 16. I didn’t do plus size modeling until later on however, when I was 22.

What are your thoughts on the plus size community?

This community is great and everyone is very supportive of each other, as well as super nice and relaxed!

How do you stay in shape?

I do some hot yoga and a fun dancing class called, “Club Cuts.” I also tend to walk around the city a lot. My favorite activity is to go out dancing with friends.

How do you dress when you’re not working?

I like to wear both comfortable and sexy clothing, like a pretty dress or nice jeans with a cute top.

What are your favorite pieces from the Mynt Pre-Fall collection?

I love the beige Veronica Lazer Cut Skirt, Damaris Sheath Dress and would absolutely live in the black Cadence Culottes all summer! But my number one choice would be the red Abida Wrap Tank. How would you style the Abida top?

When you have a beautiful piece like the Abida top, you don't need too much more. So I would go simple, pairing it with with jeans and white sneakers for day. But at night, I’d tuck into a high waisted skirt with sandals. And, of course, both looks need cool jewelry to top if off!
